Back in the day before the automotive industry had moulded carpets motor vehicles would be fitted with a carpet that consisted of a number of pieces each individually cut to suit the floor sections and each piece would be edge binded. Luxury cars continued to have this type of floor carpet fitted right up until the 1990's.

GAZMAT manufactures and retails its own stitched and fitted automotive carpets that provide drivers with a period look that is befitting any period correct restoration or any vehicle owner craving a bespoke tailored or luxury look to the finish of their vehicle.

Available in three different carpet types known as pile they are loop, plush and super-plush GAZMAT's stitched and fitted automotive carpets are second to none. In fact we believe we are the only vendor on the market of pre-made ready to install stitched and fitted automotive carpets.

Chose your carpet pile

Loop pile carpet is exactly as its name suggests it has a loop end and our plush piles are what some also call cut pile.

Loop pile gives your vehicle an authentic look and feel of vehicles manufactured prior to about 1985 while plush pile is a more modern look. Loop pile can also be used in more modern vehicles as a contrasting look.

Plush pile has a length of 6mm from the backing while Super Plush Pile has a 12mm length from the backing. Plush pile mats are more commonly used in modern vehicles but also may be used in older vehicles for a more comfortable under-foot experience.

Fasteners are part of the deal

GAZMAT automotive stitched and fitted carpets come with the conventional press-stud type fasteners that were used back in the day when this type of automotive carpet was most used. 

Heel mats are also part of the deal

GAZMAT automotive carpet mats also come with a heel mat fitted to the drivers side mat. We have secured a range of different heel mats that are era appropriate and colour matched to your vehicles mat.

Edge binding

GAZMAT edge binding is not an over locker stitching at the edge of your vehicle's carpets. It is a proper edge binding fabric and is hardy enough to stand up to the climate of Australia and can be cleaned with ease. Some of our carpets for older vehicles have a vinyl edge binder fabric so that they are completely period correct.
